welcome to OCNL!
This is an Individual Project Qualification project about fast fashion. We would really like it if you donate to us on our donation page. Thank you!
Our History :
We started by thinking that fast fashion is bad, and we wanted to reduce the amount of clothing going into a landfill. OCNL stands for old clothes new life because we give donated (old) clothes a new life!We have researched about how many clothes end up in a landfill and we were really surprised on the statistics. For example, Every year across the world produce 92 million tonnes of textile waste (NIH). Unless big changes happen and improve how they make, use, and dispose of clothes, it’s estimated that by 2030 they will create 134 million tonnes of textile waste globally (NIH). And the global fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions (UNCC). Nearly 10% of the world's carbon emissions come from the clothing industry. Producing one t-shirt, in terms of carbon, is equivalent to watching TV for 34,000 hours, and that is a lot of hours! It is so important that we recycle used clothes, so we can reduce the production of clothes, and reduce the number of clothes each year that go to landfill.
We are kids doing this but still check out our website. Thanks!
